Boxty without Borders
On Sunday September 15th, the Irish Food Champions will host a unique and symbolic gathering. Join us as we share a meal on a long table across Belcoo Bridge traversing the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland: a cross border celebration of the food and drink from the island of Ireland. Boxty is the heritage potato dish of this region of Ireland and is one of the cultural food threads that bind together the people of counties of Cavan, Leitrim and Fermanagh.
The menu for Boxty Without Borders is a celebration of the incredible produce of the region. On arrival you will be greeted by a drinks reception featuring local produce and entertainment. You will then be invited to take your seat on the bridge for this memorable event. The menu will feature local short rib of beef, Fermanagh pork, smoked and cured fish, garden greens, heritage potatoes, bread and of course boxty. Locally produced drinks will be served throughout.
Following the Long Table event, you are welcome to further explore the food culture of the region at farmers market stalls set up on either end of the bridge and soak in the festive atmosphere. Join us at our restaurant in Cavan anytime to sample prime local produce in luxurious surroundings.
